Flareon in Pokemon Mystery Universe

Hey everyone!. welcome to my guide on how to use Flareon in Pokemon Mystery Universe (PMU).
If you wish to use Flareon but don't know how to play it or what are the best moves for it, then this guide is for you!.
This is an updated version to the previous version of the guide. the guide is now up to date as of the writing of this guide (october 31, 2024)
There are three ways to play Flareon, but you can use this guide as a base or do something entierly different if you feel like it. Those playstyles are Physical, Special and Mixed.
Regardless of which playstyle you do, you'll defenitelly want to obtain the following items: Fire dust(Increases physical and special attack stats by 20 points), red silk(Increases Special attack and special defense by 20 points) and the event token items (Fiery crystal, fire gem and fire globe) which povide bonuses if Sunny wheather is up or if you're using a Heat Rock on Clear wheather

----Physical-------

This one is a bit hard to do since despite being a natural physical attacker, flareon has a limited amount of usable physical moves to make an entire set around it, two of the best ones you can use are Flare Blitz and Superpower, both are hard hitting moves that'll most likely oneshot anything in it's path, you may worry about the stat drops from the second move but fear not, as despite being displayed on the battle log, stat drops do not lower your stats, instead, they make it harder for you to buff yourself, so they basically do nothing. Finding moves for the two remaining slots can be hard thought, keep in mind that despite now having access to it's gen 9 learnsets, we don't have all of the tms in the game, as we just recived the update and the new tms haven't been added yet. Here are some suggestions: Quick attack allows flareon to get around hitstun and hit the opponent despite being stunned, Flamecharge does a similar thing but by raising you speed stat by one every time you use it, Double edge if you don't care about recoild damage, Giga impact for a strong normal type move at the cost of a long cooldown, facade to combo with Guts and Fire Fang as your most consistant option at the moment
For items, you could use a Toxi Orb to trigger Guts, a Choice Band and charcoal. The Toxic orb badly poisons the user after attacking (which allows you to activate Guts to increase your attack stat by 1.5x), the Choice Band increases the power of physical move by 1.5x at the cost of locking you on only using the first move you use (which can be prevented with the Fiery gem or safeguard), and finally, the charcoal is a team held item that increases the power of the team's Fire-type moves. Because of being a team held item, you can have a different pokemon on one of your other 3 slots hold it and it will still make Flareon's Flare blitz stronger. Keep in mind that you can use the toxic orb before going to a dungeon and then equip the choice band but you may also need a few revival items since with all the damage boosts and the damage from the poison, you'll inevitally kill yourself after using Flare Blitz, but hey, a good defense is a great offenese, am i right? This is, however, not necessary if you don't want to go all out, you can use one or multiple or none at all and use more utility base items like the Shell bell, it's all up to prefferance
Lastly, Sunny wheather will increase the power of Fire type moves as well as weakening water moves.
This playstyle has the potential of dealing severe damage to your oponents and maybe even one-shoting bosses, or at least, leaving them with very low hp after the fact. It's biggest weakness is range, you'll get outranged constantly as flareon has no moves that are both physical and can hit from a far, it's for those who preffer getting close to the opponent and dealing massive amounts of damage.

----Special-------

Despite being a Physical attacker, flareon suprisingly has a large pool of Special attack moves to chose from, all thanks to being a part of a liniage who are mostly special attackers. In fact, if you managed to get all the items i mentioned above, it should have a special attack stat either equal or barley lower than it's physical attack, allowing it to take full advantage of it's special moves
The moves i personally recommend to use are Overheat, Lavaplume, Shadow ball and Scorching sands. I'd also recommend Burning Jealousy if you could learn it, but there's currently a bug that prevents flareon and other fire types from learning it by tutor. Make sure to pay attention to the discord server to see if they ever fix it
For item, i'd recommend Choice specs for boosting your special attack even further or a few utility ones like stamina band/tight belt. Charcoal is still very useful for this set up
The pros of this set is that flareon has more options to chose from compared to it's phisical counterpart, while also having access to moves with long ranges, allowing it to hit enemies from a far and safe distance, the cons are that some of these moves are less acurrate and weaker than the physical ones due to a debuff given to some long range moves, especially so for Heat Wave and Lavaplume, both moves that can potentially clear entire rooms but usually miss some of their targets quite a lot so it's often recommended to stay away from the enemies and spam these moves from a distance to not allow them to get close to you. I recommend this to those who are fine with a long range based playstyle, hitting enemies from across the map and potentially clearing rooms at the risk of missing a few targets and being forced to waste a few more PPs

----Mixed-------

This might be the best one out of all of these, as it takes the best attributes from both of the previous playstyles and combines them into one, taking full advantages of both of flareon's high offensive stats to their fullest
one of the movesets i'd recommend would be Flare Blitz, Superpower, lavaplume and Overheat. Flare Blitz is your best damaging move overall, Lavaplume is more consistant than Heat Wave at the cost of being weaker, Overheat can hit enemies that surround you and Superpower is a good allround move for flareon to use as coverage against rock types. but this is far from the only moveset for this style, you can use other moves depending on what you preffer, you wanna lean more on one side over the other? go ahead, are there other moves that you'd want to use, be my guest.
For items, utility items are the way to go, you can't use items that boost either physical or special attacks because you are using both and you'd rather use items that help you out on your dungeon runs over ones that'd take up a held item slot for boosting one of you stats. That being said, if you still want a bit more damage for your moves, then charcoal is the way to go as it's a team held so you don't have to worry about it taking up space. Some great items to use include stamina band/tight belt, trap scarf, shell bell and choice scarf if hitstun is getting out of hand
The pros on this style is it's versatility, as it allows you to unlock and use all of flareon's available moves and combine them together for an all rounder playstyle. The cons is that it doesn't speciallizes on anything, so it won't excell at anything the other two playstyles can do but it is the most consistant of the three options and a recommended one for dungeoneering

----The End-------

That's about ii!. Don't forget that these are suggestions, they are not the only way to play with the floof and there's no "correct one", if you want to be a support, go ahead. Hopefully this guide will be useful for anyone who wants to play as a Flareon in this game but have no idea where to start. Hope you all have a nice Day!
